6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:6-7)

Prayer is important to our spiritual health as believers in Christ. For us, prayer is about communicating with God, through Jesus and with the help of the Holy Spirit. Prayer includes listening to God, giving thanks to him, asking for his help or forgiveness and generally sharing our lives with him. Following are some expressions of prayer at Tawa Baptist.

Sunday services

Most Sundays, before morning worship, there is a prayer meeting in the church office. Then, during our Sunday worship service, we offer prayers of intercession for the church, the local community, our nation and the wider world. This is led by a different member of our congregation each week.

Two members of the prayer ministry team are available to pray with people at the end of each Sunday service, at the front left of the church auditorium by the water cooler.

Anonymous written prayer requests can be put in the prayer bowl for the prayer team to pray over. The prayer bowl is located in the church foyer.

Bible study

Those involved in regular Bible study groups pray for each other as part of their small group meeting. In addition, we have a prayer ministry team which meets on a monthly basis to pray together.

Prayer chain

Prayer requests can also be circulated on the church’s prayer chain. Contact the church office if you have a request for the prayer chain. We can only share prayer requests with the permission of the person being prayed for.

Prayer Quilts

Prayer quilts is another ministry we offer. Do you know someone who would be comforted by a prayer quilt? They may have a physical, emotional, spiritual or other special need. For further information, please send your enquiries to the church office:
